Two days ago, in the bottom of the eighth inning, Jose Miranda hit Alex Faedo’s first pitch to center field for a single.
At the time, the hit seemed meaningless since the Twins were trailing the Detroit Tigers by five runs, but it marked the start of a record-breaking winning streak for Miranda.
Two games later, in the bottom of the seventh inning, Miranda sneaked a fastball into right field for another single, giving him four hits in four at-bats that day and extending the team’s consecutive hitting record.
And the record was made!

The record was first set by Twins legend and MLB Hall of Famer Tony Oliva when he recorded nine consecutive hits in 1967.
After Oliva, the Twins had two other players who tied Oliva’s record: Mickey Hatcher in 1985 and Todd Walker in 1998. Miranda went 10-for-10 over his last three games, bettering the previous three.
It’s always great when someone breaks a record, but in Miranda’s case it was more than just a statistical hit.
Miranda’s 10 hits included five singles, four doubles and one home run, and he not only showed his power but also drove in five RBI for the Twins in a memorable Fourth of July performance.
Jose Miranda’s last nine plate appearances:
1 – Single to CF.
2 – Double to LF.
3 – Single to 3B.
4 – Double to center field, 2 RBI.
5 – Single to CF.
6 – Double to right field, RBI.
7 – Single to LF.
8 – Home run to left field, RBI.
9 – Double to left field, RBI.

Miranda went 5-for-5 with 3 doubles and 3 RBIs in a July 4 game against the Tigers that lasted only 7 innings due to rain.
Miranda was one of the biggest surprises of 2024 and has been a solid hitter for the Twins, but this streak has taken him to another level. After Friday’s historic performance, he’s batting .324 this season, good for second-best in MLB.
In addition to his batting average, he also had 42 RBIs, third highest on the Twins, and his WAR jumped to over 2.
Only time will tell how long Miranda can maintain this streak, but he’s in great form and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon, and his confidence should be growing as the Twins approach the All-Star break.
