Biden has the opportunity to step down in a historic way by stepping down and handing the presidency over to Kamala Harris. While researching this online, I came across this story.

“At the end of the Revolutionary War, many in America and Europe assumed that Washington would retain power and become the leader, or even king, of the new nation. When informed by the American artist Benjamin West that Washington intended to step down, King George III of England remarked, ‘If he did, he would be the greatest man in the world.'”
Yes, it’s hard to step down, but it’s also hard to be one of the greatest people.
Biden has a chance to make history, and while at this point Biden may not be able to lead the race to victory without a major contribution, Harris could. Harris is relatively young, dynamic, new, highly competent, likely familiar with modern data and AI-driven political machinery, and likely better equipped to handle an out-of-control Supreme Court, given her experience as a district attorney.
Like many people, I love Biden. I’ve had my issues with him in the past, but I’ve always respected him for being motivated by public service, not money. He’s been a really great, amazingly progressive president. I can think of a lot of concrete ways I’ve benefited from his term: smoother COVID treatment, strong retirement benefits, repairs to the highways in my city, better management of the little national park I visit every day, energy discounts on my new home, etc. I think most of you can actually think of a few concrete things.
But if we have the first female president, and the first woman president, I think that would be a great way to cap off Joe’s career.
