It has been revealed that Crooks, who was named by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a suspect in the assassination attempt that left President Trump wounded in his right ear, lived about 56 kilometers south of the area where President Trump’s rally was held in Pennsylvania.
The FBI shared information that a bomb disposal team searched Crooks’ home after identifying him and his address information.
Security officials said it was determined that the crooks opened fire from the roof of a building outside the rally’s secured area.
It turned out that Crooks was registered as a Republican, a system that allows party members to take part in a closed primary election in which they can vote for the person they want as the party’s presidential candidate.
It was revealed that in 2021, when he was 17, Crooks donated $15 to the Democratic political action committee Progressive Vote Out Project, despite being listed as a Republican in Pennsylvania’s voter database.
He was scheduled to cast his first vote in November.
Crooks is a 2022 graduate of Bethel Park High School, according to data shared by CNN.
One of the most striking details was the fact that Crooks will be voting for the first time in the US presidential election on November 5th.
U.S. media reported that Crooks received a “gold medal” worth $500 from the National Mathematics and Science Initiative, while also reporting that he appeared on stage to applause at his 2022 high school graduation ceremony.
Meanwhile, it has also been stated that Crooks, who was neutralised by the US secret services following the assassination attempt on President Trump, had no identification.
The FBI said Crooks’ identity was determined through DNA analysis.
Crooks reportedly had no criminal history, but his motives for carrying out the attack are still under investigation.
The suspect’s father, Matthew Crooks, said he wouldn’t speak about his son until he met with authorities.
Bomb-making materials found in home and car of Trump assassin suspect
Two police officers, who did not want to be named, said in a statement to The Associated Press that bomb-making materials were also found at Crooks’ home and in his car.
Police officials said the gun Crooks used in the assassination attempt may have been purchased by his father about six months ago and that authorities were trying to find evidence about how and when Crooks obtained the gun.
Authorities reported that Crooks was not carrying any identification at the time of the attack and that they were using DNA testing and other methods to confirm his identity.
