“On July 28, 1935, 89 years ago today, the Iowa Highway Patrol headed out on its first mission. The first 50 members began carrying out a proud tradition. Courtesy, Service, Protect became our motto. With 12 motorcycles and 37 vehicles, we were tasked with traveling more than 6,000 miles on our assigned highways. We are extremely proud of our history, traditions, personnel, veterans and the work we do together in support of our road safety and public safety mission,” said Sergeant Alex Dinkla, Iowa State Patrol Public Information Officer.
The IAHF discovered the bike in the UK, where the owner had kept the original decals and had been displaying it at events.
The ISP KZ10000P will take part in the Iowa State Fair Parade in downtown Des Moines on Wednesday, Aug. 7. It will also be on display in the Grand Concourse at the State Fairgrounds for Heroes Day on Aug. 8, the first day of the fair.
