Branded residences are becoming increasingly popular around the world, with major luxury hotel brands beginning to open residential properties in major cities around the world for the first time.
The Ritz-Carlton owns 60 purpose-built residential properties across North America and the Middle East, and the Marriott-owned luxury hotel brand has officially opened its first residences in Europe, The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Istanbul. This is the second Ritz-Carlton Residences in Turkey (the first is in Bodrum), but technically the first in Europe, as the west side of the Bosphorus is in Europe and the east is in Asia.

Istanbul, Turkey, is already home to a Ritz-Carlton hotel, and the new residential tower will give loyal travelers the chance to vacation forever in a city known for ornate mosques such as the Hagia Sophia, Byzantine and Ottoman palaces, and the Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest covered markets in the country, dating back to the 15th century.
Like all Ritz-Carlton branded hotel projects, The Ritz-Carlton Residences Istanbul features architecture and interiors inspired by the world’s most coveted cities. It is located in Istanbul’s upscale residential district of Nişantaşı. The tower was built in the 1970s by Dogan Tekeli Sami Sisa Architects and was purchased by developer Bilgili Holding in June 2014, which led to a complete redevelopment. Bilgili Holding engaged architect Tanju Özergin of TO Design Studio to design the luxury residential, office and retail spaces within the building.

The 121 homes offer six floorplan options, including garden duplexes and penthouses overlooking the city. Interiors were designed by Mahmut Anler’s firm Geo_ID, who designed a sensual color palette with dark finishes, including black marble kitchen islands and backsplashes and black accents. Premium appliances, high ceilings, spa-like bathrooms and high-tech features for comfortable living are also included. The spacious homes are filled with light through large windows and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors that open to terraces.
“Istanbul’s luxury residential market is rapidly gaining in value, especially with the growing global demand for travel and unique experiences,” said Sinan Temo, CEO of Bilgili Holding. “We are also seeing an increasing demand for exclusive luxury properties and branded residences. Located at the crossroads of the world, Istanbul has an unparalleled culture and history and we believe it is the perfect backdrop for The Ritz-Carlton brand’s regional debut. We are seeing growing buyer demand across Europe and especially in Istanbul. Property buyers are increasingly taking a global perspective on investment and lifestyle, which continues to benefit the Istanbul market. Not only is it a great place to live, it also offers buyers the advantage of being close to Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Asia for work, family and leisure.”

Residence amenities will rival a Ritz-Carlton hotel and include a 24-hour fitness center, the option to take private training and yoga classes, an indoor pool and wellness center with a Turkish bath and rejuvenating spa treatments rooted in Turkish culture, a private cinema room with an on-site library, a Ritz Kids program and a full-sized children’s play area. Residents also have access to 24/7 reception and concierge services including airline and private jet bookings, grocery shopping, laundry/dry cleaning, personal chef services and an in-home spa.
