Ipek Akgül (19), who was shot to death by Yaşar Bulut (20) and buried in an orange orchard in Adana, was sent to her by his ex-lovers Ahmet Bayrak (27) and Mehmet Gergün (26) as hitmen to defeat the enemy EA (22). It was determined that Akgül was executed three days before the murder so as not to consult with the police after he injured the EA and escaped. It was determined that Albayrak and Gölgün were in a car on the way to the place where Ipek was buried, and they blamed each other during questioning at the police station. Three suspects and the murder suspect’s brother Aziz Bulut (23) were arrested.
On the night of February 14, Yaşar Bulut went to the city’s provincial police and reported that he had killed his girlfriend, İpek Akgül, who he claimed had cheated on him, and buried her in an orange grove. While the suspect was in custody, a team from the Homicide Bureau went to a garden in the Asmar district of Yumurtalik district and began an investigation. As Bulut did not remember where the body was buried, they checked the GPS tracking device of the rental car that the suspect had taken to the garden.
Police located the coordinates of Akgül’s burial site and found his body buried in the ground during an investigation using cadaver dogs, “Acenas.” An autopsy at the Adana Forensic Institute determined that Ipek Akgül died on February 11th after first being beaten to death, breaking his arms and ribs, and then shot in various parts of his body. Akgül’s body was buried with tears in the hands of the police at the Yesilova Cemetery in Seyhan District.
Police investigations revealed that suspect Ipek Akgül came from Izmir three days before the murder, shot EA, whom he had met on social media, three times while she was taking a shower at his home, and then fled. EA released a statement after being released from hospital, saying, “I met him on the Internet, approached him, and we met at my house. He shot me for no reason while I was taking a shower.”
Using the City Safety Management System (KGYS) and License Plate Recognition System (PTS), police determined that Akgül was not the only person in the car with Bulut on the night of the incident. Investigations revealed that the other passengers were Ipek’s ex-boyfriend Ahmet Bayrak and his friend Mehmet Gergün.
He confessed the truth during the second interrogation.
When questioned again, detainee Yaşar Bulut said, “The truth is, I don’t know the girl. Ipek’s real lover Ahmet and his friend Mehmet were with me. They wanted me to kill the girl. They said they would take care of me as soon as possible,” according to the prison.
Homicide detectives determined that Ahmet Bayrak and Mehmet Gergün were plotting to kill EA, who they had a vendetta against, and called in İpek Akgül as the hit man. The suspects realized that if EA survived the attack, their plan would be revealed, so they met with Akgül and told him, “The police are looking for you. We will hide you,” and had Bulut kill him.
They were caught during the operation
Following these discoveries, the team arrested Ahmet Bayrak and Mehmet Gergün in operations carried out in two separate apartments in the Beyazevler district of Çukurova district. Yaşar Bulut’s brother, Aziz Bulut, who allegedly helped hide the suspect, was detained at his home in the Mirza Çelebi district of Ceyhan district. Suspects Ahmet Bayrak and Mehmet Gergün, who were taken to the police, blamed each other during questioning and claimed that they were not the ones who instigated the injury of EA and the murder of İpek. After the procedure at the police station, Yaşar Bulut, his brother Aziz Bulut, Ahmet Bayrak and Mehmet Gergün were sent to the court and arrested by the court.
