Summer is the season when the need for food assistance is at its highest for food banks in central and eastern North Carolina.
Donate funds, food, or time
Approximately 300,000 children in the service area previously relied on free or reduced-price school meals, and with schools closed, many families will face additional financial strain due to the rising cost of living and childcare costs.
But you can help.
Easy ways food banks can help feed kids this summer
DONATE NOW – Donate to the Food Bank’s “Stop Summer Hunger” campaign through July 31. For every dollar donated, the Food Bank can source and distribute five meals – far more than individual consumers could purchase. Your donation helps feed and give hope to local families and children. Donate now. DONATE FOOD: Shelf-stable food is always needed. See a list of most needed items and find more resources for hosting a drive here. DONATE YOUR TIME: Volunteers are essential to the Food Bank’s mission. During an average volunteer shift, one person can sort or pack food for 160 meals. Click here to register and learn more about what to expect.
