But anyone who’s ever traveled knows that sometimes things can go wrong, so before you start booking flights or requesting time off work, KPRC 2 turned to Doug Shoop of AAA Texas for some tips.
Highlights:
Analysts predict that 4.9 billion people will travel around the world this year, which would be a record compared to the 4.5 billion who traveled around the world in 2019, before the pandemic began.
Some domestic airlines are consolidating routes and hiring airline staff as regional jet service in some areas is curtailed.
Think about where you want to go and book your flights now. The earlier the better, as airfares are always higher in the summer. Consider leaving on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday, as these days tend to be the cheapest since there are fewer business travelers.
Consider consulting a trusted travel advisor to put together your vacation plans. Packages include airfare and accommodations, and if you’re a AAA member, you may be eligible for even more discounts and perks. Note: You don’t have to be a member to consult with a AAA advisor, but Shope highly recommends it.
Don’t let rising gas prices stop you. Consider a road trip. You can plan your own trip and it will save you a lot of money compared to airfare.
