Figen Bezmes, a resident of Bodrum, received a call from her estranged husband’s son, Dokan D., at around 6 p.m. on November 24 last year and went to her home on Yaka Street in Umluca district. An argument broke out between him and his son.
After locking the door, Dokan D. punched his mother and attacked her with a knife. Bezmez suffered blunt and stab wounds to the throat and various parts of his body. Bezmez opened the locked door to get out but fell into the garden of the house and died. Dokan D. was detained by police and arraigned the following day at a court where he was presented.
An indictment was prepared calling for a sentence of 24 years in prison.
As a result of the investigation, an indictment was prepared against Dukan D, seeking up to 24 years in prison for the “premeditated murder of a female relative, causing monstrous feelings and pain.” The two-page indictment states that in the month leading up to the murder, Figen Bezmes had been staying in a hotel rather than in the same house as her children, as her son Dukan D did not want to do so.
It was noted that Bezmez would occasionally return home for cooking, cleaning, and other necessities. Bezmez’s second son, Ed, was described as staying with his mother during the day and coming to his brother’s at night to sleep.
“Blood analysis showed undetectable vitamin D levels.”
The indictment states that Figen Bezmes encouraged his son, Dokan D., to go to a health center and get a blood test to check his vitamin D levels after he told her he had felt dizzy at the gym the day before the incident.
Doğukan D. is said to have accepted her mother’s offer, donated blood, received the test results and returned home with her. The indictment describes what happened next:
“After seeing that there was no vitamin D value in the analysis results, Dokan D became furious and began yelling at his mother. Bezmez then returned to the health center. After a while, Figen Bezmez called his son.” Dokan D said on the phone that there was no result because the vitamin “D” concentration was not tested at the health center, and said, “Four bottles of blood were taken for no reason. I will do it.” Worried about his son’s condition, Bezmez came to the hotel and went to the house where his son, ED and the hotel employee live. However, Dokan D only took his mother. Meanwhile, Bezmez said, “Open the door, don’t lock it,” and when the door suddenly opened, Figen Bezmez came out with her throat slit. Then she collapsed in front of the house and died on the spot. “
The autopsy report showed he had three different cuts on his neck.
Bezmez’s autopsy report was also included in the indictment. The report stated that Figen Bezmez had three different cuts measuring 4cm, 7cm and 15cm on her neck. The indictment also included that Dokan D admitted to the crime at the police station but exercised his right to remain silent in court during the arrest phase. (DHA)
