While some NFL fans complained about teams not trying something new with their Color Rush jerseys a few years ago, Jacksonville Jaguars fans were tired of the jerseys the team was forced to wear that season.
The aforementioned jersey was a horrible shade of mustard yellow, and then-Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles publicly stated that he thought the jersey was “horribly ugly.” If a quarterback is saying that about a jersey, that means the jersey is awful.
It’s no surprise then that For The Win’s Christian D’Andrea named the infamous mustard yellow jersey the worst jersey in Jacksonville franchise history. The article featured a photo of then-Jaguars long snapper Carson Tinker and then-Jaguars punter Brian Unger wearing the jersey, with D’Andrea joking:
“This photo has not been retouched in any way. This uniform looks even worse when you sweat, but I’m sure that won’t be an issue in Florida.”
– Christian D’Andrea
Well, the fact that the players were visibly sweating when they wore these jerseys made it even worse. The jerseys were already awful, but then you added the sweat element and it was like rubbing salt into the wound. It was awful.
Everyone knew at the time that these Jaguars jerseys would go down in history, and not in a good way – not only as the worst Jaguars jerseys of all time, but potentially one of the worst NFL jerseys of all time.
Well, it’s commendable that they tried something different during the Color Rush era, and on the bright side, at least we all know what the worst uniforms in this team’s history are. It’s a total no-brainer.
