A hearing into the KCK case, which was cited as the reason for the dismissal of Hakkari Co-Mayor Flo, a DEM Party member who was replaced by a trustee, was held today at the Hakkari First High Criminal Court.
Mehmet Suduk Trăm, who was on trial for “leading an armed terrorist organization,” “being a member of an armed terrorist organization,” and “propaganda for the organization,” made the following statement in his defense:
“My head is held high. I am 53 years old. I have fought all my life and I will continue to fight. I heard on the news that I was on the run but I have never tried to run. I stand by everything I have done, I have done,” she said. “I have done everything I had to do politically. I stand before you with my head held high. I said I stood for peace, I said I stood for brotherhood, I said I stood for equality, I said I stood for freedom. I said I still built my life around these things. I am not scared of being arrested or sent to prison.”
Stream called for the indictment to be re-drafted, saying, “I do not want to be tried on an indictment drafted by prosecutors who support FETO. I do not ask for your release or acquittal. I simply leave it to your conscience to decide. That’s what I said.” “Why wasn’t this trial held a year ago, why wasn’t it held four years ago? I know this trial is political,” he said.
