Güristan Kılıc Kocic, deputy leader of the People’s and Equality Democratic Party (DEM) group, spoke on the topic at a press conference in parliament.
Regarding the dismissal and arrest of Hakkari Mayor Mehmet Suduk Adim, Kotzit said: “We will hold a rally in Hakkari on the 13th and in Mersin on the 14th. We will continue our fight until the decision to appoint the administrators is overturned.”
Reacting to the launch of an investigation into Tatvan Mayor Mumin Eroglu, who removed photos of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan from his office, Kotsit said, “Under what law was this investigation launched? Under what law does it constitute a crime? Hanging or removing photos of political opponents?” he asked.
Reaction to grain prices
Kotzewit criticised the grain purchase prices announced by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, saying they were forcing farmers to give up production.
Kotzit said farmers’ debt was approaching 700 billion lira and that the AKP was working to destroy farmers’ commitment to production.
Kotzieit said farmers are unable to get appointments when they want to sell products from the Soil Products Bureau, and storage costs mean farmers end up disposing of the product quickly.
“There is a need to urgently revise grain purchasing prices, come up with a strategic agricultural plan for the country and announce support measures, especially for small and medium-sized farmers and producers,” Kotzewit said.
Comments on the “New Curriculum”
Referring to the Turkey’s Century Education Model created by the AKP, Kociit commented, “This is the curriculum program of Turkey’s Century Education Model. This is precisely the project of the current AKP-MHP alliance to raise a new generation centered on loyalty and obedience.”
Kocit claimed the show’s content consisted of “assimilationist, instrumentalizing religious beliefs, unscientific and sexist” elements and topics, which she said “contradict the multi-identity, multi-lingual reality of Turkey.”
Call Tahar El-Si’s hearing
Kosit said the sentencing hearing in the case surrounding the death of then Diyarbakir Bar Association president Tahir Erci nine years ago in Diyarbakir’s Sur district would be held on June 12. “We call for unity to ensure that all Turkish people of conscience attend and that this murder case does not remain in the dark but comes to light,” he said.
