The opinion called for a decision to dismiss the charges against Engin Porat for “insulting,” “injuring,” and “intimidating others” the victim, Metin, and sentenced him to one year in prison. The charge of “violating residence status” carried a three-month prison sentence, with a maximum sentence of one year.

The indictment prepared by the Anatolian Chief Prosecutor’s Office states that a party was held at the Polat couple’s home in Cekmakhöy for Engin Polat’s birthday on June 2, 2023, and a baby was born to a guest who was there. When the group fell ill and a guest turned towards their parked car to go to the doctor, he saw another car in front of his own, it states.
The indictment states that after receiving the notice, Engin Porat went to his neighbor Metin SA’s house to request that the vehicle be towed away, but was unable to find the neighbor at home, Engin and the couple claim. Dilan Porat and his wife then encountered Metin SA on the road and got into an argument, which escalated to the point where they punched him and threatened to drive him away.

The indictment sentenced Dylan Porat to eight years and four months in prison for “insult,” “injury,” and “threat with several persons,” while Engin Porat was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison for “insult,” “injury,” and “threat with several persons,” and “violation of the home exemption.” For those crimes, he faces a maximum sentence of 11 years and four months in prison.

In the indictment prepared and accepted by the High Criminal Court, Dilan and Engin Porat were accused of “establishing and operating an organisation with the intent to commit a crime”, “laundering the property value derived from a crime”, and “violating the law regulating betting and wagering on football and other sporting events”, each of which carries a combined prison sentence of between 20 and 40 years.
The other suspects are expected to receive varying degrees of prison sentences for various crimes.
