Hamas said its response to the ceasefire plan announced by US President Joe Biden had been conveyed to Egypt and Qatar.
A joint written statement prepared by Hamas and the Islamic Jihad movement said their response to the ceasefire proposal would prioritize “the interests of the Palestinian people, a complete cessation of the ongoing attacks on Gaza, and (Israeli) full withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.”
The statement included the following statement: “The Palestinian delegation recognizes its national responsibility and is open to an agreement that would end this war against our people.”
Meanwhile, Egypt and Qatar announced that they had received the response of the Hamas movement and other Palestinian groups to the US proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
“Egypt and Qatar announce that they have received a response from Hamas and the Palestinian groups regarding the ceasefire proposal,” spokesmen for the Egyptian and Qatari foreign ministries said in a joint statement on the X-account.
The statement said that efforts to reach an agreement with the United States are continuing, that the government will carefully examine the response of intermediary countries, and coordinate with relevant countries on future responses.
US assesses Hamas response to ceasefire season
White House National Security Adviser John Kirby answered questions about Hamas’ response to the ceasefire during a video conference briefing.
Stating that he was pleased with the response from Hamas regarding the ceasefire through Qatar and Egypt, Kirby said, “We were expecting a response. Of course, this response is important. We are evaluating this right now. We are evaluating this. We have just received (Hamas’ response),” he said.
Kirby said he could not yet say exactly what Hamas’ response would mean, but would be able to speak more clearly on the issue after it has been fully assessed, and said he hoped a ceasefire would be reached as a result of this process.
The statement said the Hamas regime’s response to the Israeli ceasefire proposal in the Gaza Strip announced by US President Joe Biden was conveyed to Egypt and Qatar.
The Hamas regime had previously said it was open to Biden’s ceasefire proposal.
Israel claims to have released 50 mandates
The official, who requested anonymity, said in a statement to AA correspondent that Israel had released around 50 prisoners from Gaza and the Northern Province.
Health sources who spoke to AA also reported that 33 of the prisoners released today traveled to Kemal Adban Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip to receive treatment due to their difficult health conditions.
“The bodies of some of the Palestinians who visited the hospital after their release showed signs of torture,” hospital officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
