In one incident in the Ardesen district of Rize, former AKP mayor of the town of Tunka, Ahmet Naci Aytemis, was attacked and seriously injured.
Aytemis was rushed to hospital following the intervention of a medical team, but despite all efforts, his life could not be saved.
An investigation was launched into the incident, and during an investigation at the scene it was discovered that Naci Aytemis had been hit by five gunshots.
Two people have been arrested and one is wanted.
District Governor Ardesen, who issued a statement on the matter, said an investigation has been launched and two suspects have been arrested, while the process of arresting another is ongoing. The district governor’s statement included the following:
* “As a result of a previously known hostile altercation that began in a private workplace on Ataturk Street in our Ardesen district, the incident spilled onto the street and escalated into a mutual armed clash in front of Akbank. Mayor Ahmet Naci Aytemis, one of the former Tunka parties, was seriously injured and taken to hospital where it was found that his life could not be saved despite all interventions.
* The Pazar Chief Prosecutor’s Office has launched a judicial investigation into the incident. “The suspects were quickly identified by security forces, two were arrested and efforts to detain another are ongoing.”
