Regarding some of the allegations regarding the Ukrainian peace summit, Foreign Ministry spokesman Onç Kechely said: “Patriarch Fener took part in the Ukrainian peace summit in Switzerland in his official capacity and our minister held an official bilateral meeting with Patriarch Fener. Bartolomeos was at the very edge of the summit. “The news that he did this does not reflect the truth,” he said.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Kechely responded in writing to questions regarding some news about the Ukrainian Peace Summit.
“The news that the Greek Patriarchate of Fener took part in a state capacity at the Ukrainian Peace Summit in Switzerland on June 15 and 16 and that our country’s minister held an official bilateral meeting with Greek Patriarch Bartholomew on the margins of the summit does not reflect this situation as true.” In his statement, Kecheli said he had asked the hosts of the summit, Switzerland and Ukraine, for an explanation regarding the allegations that the name of the Greek Patriarchate of Fener was subsequently added as a signatory to the joint declaration, which was eventually accepted. He said he would make the contents of the summit public and available to the public.
