CAPE GIRARDE, Mo. (KBSI) – There’s no better way to spend a Friday night than hosting a food truck festival at a local park, and these food truck meet-ups have become quite popular locally.
Mary Smith is here for the third time to sell sweets. She talks about her business. Thanks to today’s gathering, Mau Mau Sweet Shop has gained a large customer base. She tells the customers that her motto is “Always fresh, never frozen”.
“We do pies, whether you want a whole pie or a slice. We do catering. We do cookies, cakes, pies. We make everything fresh. It’s all handmade.”
In addition to baked goods, some vendors offer freshly grilled barbecue and some even have boutique stores.
Smith says by the time the event begins, when everyone has finished work, business is brisk and the atmosphere is good.
“And it just keeps getting bigger and bigger. People come and it’s great, just the live music and the kids. They love it here. And everyone looks out for each other and the trucks all look out for each other.”
Whether you’re here for a meal or to grow your business, the choice is yours once you enter Arena Park.
“If you know the name, you get the name out there and people recognize it. And then when they come in, they’re like, oh, I remember you from somewhere.”
Today’s event runs from 5pm to 8pm and is expected to take place every Friday.
