The first few minutes of the match saw both teams trading baskets, but Fenerbahce Beko’s emphasis on outside shots saw them take a 22-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.
While Anadolu Efes put the score back in their favor with consecutive baskets early in the second period, Fenerbahce Beko took control again, taking a 10-point lead (32-42) with goals from Hayes Davis and Sertaci Şanlı. The yellow and blue team continued to play effectively against a struggling opponent and went into the locker room with a 51-36 lead.
Fenerbahce Beko started the third quarter with a point from Hayes-Davis, extending their lead to 20 points (36-56). The yellow-and-navy team played tough zone defense, forcing Anadolu Efes to shoot from the outside, but they were unable to close the gap and ended the third quarter with a 71-51 advantage.
Fenerbahce Beko took control in the final period and although they narrowed the gap, they did not allow their opponents to fight back, winning 85-74.
The second round of the series will be held at the same hall on Saturday, June 8th.
