EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) — A horrific murder in Edmond has the victim’s family asking questions. Elise Betts was found dead in a warehouse on July 5. Police have arrested Kyle Fedus in connection to the murder. Now, family members say her death feels like history is repeating itself in their family.
Sources say Betts’ death is made even more shocking by the fact that her aunt was also murdered by her then-husband in a warehouse in 1991.

“My father took so much from us and I don’t think anyone should see that outside of that building,” said Betts’ sister, Laura Beckman.
The 911 call caused time to stop for Betts’ family.
They said she was a successful woman who loved horses and was highly respected by her family.
“I wanted to be just like her when I grew up,” Betts said.
Edmond police discovered her body last Friday afternoon at Coltrane Mini Storage.
Her sister, who lives out of state, called detectives and asked them to put the call on speaker so the family could hear.
The detective told her things that made her think something was definitely wrong.

“He said, ‘If you think that’s a good idea,’ and at that point I kind of put myself in the situation and I think I understood what this call was about,” Beckman said.
Betts’ sister said not being able to contact her for weeks left her with a range of emotions.
“We knew she had gone missing around June 15th in North Carolina,” Beckman said. “I was in contact with the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service, local police, trying to locate her, because there was no way she could have gone missing. Her Facebook was gone. Her phone was turned off.”
A shocking phone call from a detective was the first clue as to where she might be, but her family is still in disarray.
“She was the most successful of all of us, so it just doesn’t make sense to me,” Beckman said.

Edmond police arrested Kyle Fedus at a nearby hotel in connection with the murder.
Police say he has an outstanding federal arrest warrant in North Carolina.
The two went to Oklahoma to hide from police and had a plan if they were caught, according to the affidavit.
“He ended up confessing that he made a pact with the woman outside of this storage facility that they were both going to kill themselves. That’s his story. Of course, it’s not her story,” said Emily Ward with Edmond police.
According to court documents, Fedus first injected Betts with a syringe containing a mixture of fentanyl and methamphetamine, then injected himself.
“When we were told drugs were involved, we couldn’t believe it. Ellis… that wasn’t her,” Beckman said.

Now, Betts’ family’s main focus is on the man they believe snatched a bright spot from their lives.
“I want him to spend the rest of his life in prison and thinking about what he did to my sister,” Beckman said.
Edmond police said the relationship between Fedus and Betts is unknown, but the two were staying together at a Best Western in Edmond.
Fedus is being held in the Oklahoma County Jail on $10 million bail.
