A fire broke out at a factory producing automotive spare parts in the Tuzla Leather Organized Industrial Zone. As the fire at the factory spread rapidly, many firefighters, health teams and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene.
An explosion occurred inside the factory during the fire but teams are continuing to work to extinguish the flames.
The blaze has spread to a recreation area in the Chaairova district of Kocaeli city, close to the factory. Teams are continuing to fight the fire as it broke out in forested areas.
Governor issues statement
In a statement on the fire, the Istanbul Governor said, “A fire broke out in an industrial area on Deli Sanay Yolu Street, Aydınlı District, Tuzla Province, at around 12:50 on Tuesday, June 17, 2024. Numerous firefighting units were dispatched.” A team from Ahad KRBN has been dispatched to the area to respond to the fire. “Meanwhile, necessary precautions are being taken to prevent the fire from spreading to forest areas. According to initial investigation results, there have been no fatalities. In the event of any injuries due to the fire, the Governor will share information on the developing process.” The statement included:

As a result of the intervention of the fire brigade, the forestry department, AFAD, police and gendarmerie, the fires that broke out in forest areas and at two factories were extinguished.
Teams are continuing cooling operations within the controlled area, while firefighting efforts are continuing at the third plant, where the fire has spread.
