Eylem Tok appeared before a judge in Boston today at 18:00 Türk time. It was decided that Eylem Tok’s detention will continue, and the parties will proceed to prepare detailed charges and defense. The next hearing will be held on Thursday, June 27, at 16:00 Türk time.
Parliamentarian Hussein Günay, who was observing the hearing, told NTV Washington that Aylem Tok was brought into the courtroom wearing an orange prison uniform and her hair had been dyed from black to blonde and cut short.

They visited a private school
According to information provided by Reuters, at the time of his arrest, Tok and his son were preparing to attend a private school in Boston where annual tuition fees are $46,000.
$5,000 in cash found on Tock’s person when he was arrested was also noted in the police report.

Fake passport plan
Court documents also reported that Turkish authorities believed the Toks were trying to obtain false passports to travel to the United States and then to Cuba.
A US court arrest warrant states that Cihan Timur is being sought for extradition to Turkey on charges of “intentional homicide and assault”, while his mother Tok is being sought for extradition to Turkey on charges of “protecting a criminal”.

Disposable mobile phones
According to a news report from the Posta newspaper, Tok used eight separate phone lines while on the run to avoid police pursuit, most of which were disposable phones that could not be traced.
They always ordered food from outside the residence they were staying in in Boston – Eylem Tok used a foreign name to avoid being recognized – and they preferred restaurants close to home.

A Turkish delivery man working at the restaurant happened to pick up the order and met Eylem Tok, who then contacted the police.
Eylem Tok and her son had returned home after a visit to the British International School in Boston, which costs $46,000 a year. Eight police officers raided the house and arrested the mother and son. “I’m a mother, not a murderer,” Tok said. “My maternal instinct was to protect my child.”

Tok’s lawyer: Extradition is not possible
Tok’s lawyer, Brendan Kelly, argued that Tok should be released, but that what parents do to protect their children is not considered a crime under Turkish law, so extradition between the U.S. and Turkey is not possible.

On March 1, one of three ATVs traveling through Eyyup Sultan broke down, and as the broken-down vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road for repairs, one of two vehicles traveling in the same direction collided with the three ATVs.
Five people injured in the accident were rushed to hospital, one of the injured, Oguz Murat Asi, could not be saved despite intervention.
Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunci also announced that he had contacted Egyptian judicial authorities and forwarded temporary arrest requests to US authorities for the extradition of the suspects believed to have traveled to the US.
