History Passport Month returns this July, offering four weeks of old-fashioned summer fun for residents interested in the area’s unique history.
The event will include more than 35 historic sites in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding areas, offering free admission, tours, activities and special programs for visitors of all ages.
Participating sites/organizations include: Bethlehem History Museum and Site, Coopersburg Historical Society, Segal Museum, Lower Saucon Township Historical Society, Quakertown Historical Society, Durham Historical Society Grist Mill and Williams Township Historical Society.
As part of History Passport Month, the Lower Saucon Township Historical Society will host a Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse Open House on Saturday, July 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The schoolhouse, built in 1880, offers a glimpse into what a student’s education was like in a one-room school.
“I’m so proud that History Passport Month has become a beloved annual event with free admission for everyone,” Megan Van Ravensway, executive director of the Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society and Segal Museum, said in a news release. “Our region is rich in diverse history, arts and culture, and I hope this July you’ll have the opportunity to visit some of your favorite historical sites and find some new ones to explore as well.”
