Of Turkiye’s 10 official matches against the Netherlands, eight were at the World Cup and two were in the European Championship qualifying group.
The Nationals played their first official match against the Netherlands at Istanbul İnyonu Stadium on December 16, 1992. Coach Sepp Piontek’s team lost 1-3, but the only goal for the Crescent was scored by star player Feyyaz Uçar.
A rematch of this match took place in Utrecht on 24 February 1993. Türkiye left that match with a 1–3 defeat, with Feyyaz Uçal again scoring the only goal.
The Turkish national team also faced the Netherlands in the 1998 World Cup qualifying group. The first of these matches is written in golden letters in the history of Turkish football. The two teams met on April 2, 1997 at Bursa Ataturk Stadium. Mustafa Denizli’s national team won 1-0. A rematch of this match was played at the Amsterdam Arena on October 11, 1997, and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
The 2014 World Cup European qualifier match took place in Amsterdam on 7 September 2012, with the home team winning 2–0. A rematch of the match was played at the Fenerbahçe Sükr Salaçol Stadium on 15 October 2013, with the Netherlands again winning 2–0.
The Euro 2016 qualifying match in Amsterdam on 28 March 2015 ended 1-1 with Turkey’s goal scored by Burak Yilmaz. The Crescent won the Euro 2016 qualifying match at Konya Büyükşehir Belediye Stadium 3-0.
Turkey defeated the Netherlands 4-2 in the opening match of Group G of the 2022 FIFA World Cup European Qualifiers at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium. Burak Yilmaz scored a hat-trick in the match, with Hakan Calhanoglu scoring the other goal for the Crescent Stars.
– The most different defeat was the last match played in Amsterdam on September 7, 2021. The 2022 FIFA World Cup European Qualifier Group G match ended in a 6-1 victory for the Netherlands.
This result was recorded as the most different score in a match played between the two teams. The only goal for the national team was 90+2. In the minute, Cengiz Ünder scored a goal.
