Travel experts have issued a warning to passengers packing certain items into their luggage ahead of summer holidays. Travellers on Jet2, Ryanair, easyJet and TUI have been warned about packing several popular items in their luggage and suitcases.
TikTok user and content creator @thepointsguy warned about items that “should never be packed in checked luggage, no matter how short the flight.” Passengers are being warned to never pack prescription medication in checked luggage.
“You might be able to get your doctor to phone you in with a prescription, but that can be difficult on weekends, holidays or if you can’t get your refill before your last prescription runs out,” he said.

It also recommended that people not pack electronic devices in their checked luggage, warning that “most can be trusted, but not all can”, posing a “risk” of them being stolen by airline staff or flight attendants handling bags, suitcases and luggage on the ground.
“The same goes for jewellery, cash or any items of high personal value,” he said. Birmingham Live reports that anything that represents a financial or emotional loss should be kept on you wherever possible.
“Everyday items” should also be packed in your carry-on luggage, “ideally including a change of clothes, toiletries and, if necessary, glasses or contact lenses,” he added.
The warning comes as more people are leaving the UK for the summer holidays.
Other items to carry, he said, are a “plug adaptor and good quality sunscreen.” The cautionary advice has gone viral and been widely praised, with one TikTok user commenting: “I pack everything important in my carry-on, especially my medication, contact lenses and electronics.”
Another added: “I only pack clothes and shoes in my checked luggage. Everything else is carry-on.”
