Ekrem Imamoglu’s first statement on Murat Kurum’s ministerial post
In a statement on social media platform X (Twitter), Imamoglu made the following remarks:
“I congratulate Istanbul Health Director General Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu on his appointment as Minister of Health and wish him every success in his new role. I also wish great success to Murat Kurum, who ran alongside me in the Istanbul local elections, who has been reappointed as Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate.”

Murat Kurum, the AKP’s candidate in the March 31 Istanbul elections, lost to Ekrem Imamoglu of the CHP by more than one million votes.

what happened?
According to a personnel decision published in the Official Gazette and signed by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, two ministers have been replaced within the cabinet.
Murat Kurmül was appointed to the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change by a presidential decision, but the ministry was vacated by Mehmet Ozaseki, whose request for amnesty was accepted.
Another member of the cabinet who sought pardon from his duties was Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, who was replaced by Istanbul Provincial Health Director General Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoglu.
