East End Food has a new executive director.
According to a press release from East End Food, the nonprofit’s new executive director is Marcy Morrow. Morrow previously founded Time for Life, a nonprofit that supports children with cancer and their families, according to the release. Morrow has also worked extensively in private label food manufacturing with an emphasis on organic and nutritious ingredients. Morrow is a columnist for Vivant Magazine and holds a bachelor’s degree from St. Joseph’s University in Connecticut and a master’s degree from Southern Connecticut University, the release said.
“Her expertise spans nutrition for conditions such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, Alzheimer’s and cancer,” the nonprofit said in a press release. “Marcy’s belief in ‘fueling the body and mind with food first’ will be the driving force behind her leadership at East End Food.”
Morrow succeeds Kate Flamm, who served as executive director for six years and left the position earlier this year to take a job with the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets’ Agricultural Development Division.
East End Food (formerly the East End Food Institute) operates a farmers market in Riverhead and is committed to supporting farmers and food businesses on Long Island’s East End. They are currently renovating a building at the corner of Main Road and Route 105 into the “East End Food Hub,” which will include a year-round farmers market and a shared commercial kitchen.
East End Food will also be launching its 2024 fundraising campaign, “The Power of Food.” According to a press release, funds raised during the campaign will help complete construction of the new East End Food Hub, employee salaries and fund marketing programs.
