The incident took place at around 13:30 at the Bahçelievler Mahallesi Eski Hal location, when a suspected drug addict, whose name has not been revealed, wounded someone he was arguing with with a knife.
As he fled, the suspect attacked bystanders with a knife, leaving nine people injured in the incident, which led to health and police teams being dispatched to the area following a tip-off.

The injured were taken to Bahcelievler Family Health Center and Bingol Provincial Hospital, where two of the injured were treated but could not be saved despite doctors’ efforts.
Police launched an investigation into the incident and arrested and detained a suspect, whose stabbing was captured on security camera footage.

The governor issued a statement on the incident. The suspects’ judicial process is ongoing, the statement said:
“Today at around 1:30 pm, a knife attack on civilians by a suspected psychopathic drug addict left two of our citizens dead and seven injured citizens receiving treatment at Bingöl Provincial Hospital,” in the Bahçelievler district in the city center. The perpetrators of the attack have been arrested and detained by our security forces and legal proceedings in this matter are ongoing. “We pray for God’s mercy on our deceased citizens and for a speedy recovery for the injured.”
