CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The Dorchester County Public Library is helping to deliver food and supplies to those in need.
“People are getting used to coming in and knowing there’s food here, and if the store doesn’t have it, they ask for it. We usually get a delivery about once a week from MidShore Meals Til’ Monday,” said Julie Kennedy, assistant director and youth services coordinator for Dorchester County Library.
Officials said that the Cambridge and Hurlock branches have set up drop-off locations for local residents, a service they have been offering for over a year in partnership with Mid-Shore Meals Till Monday, but are now encouraging the public to drop off donations.
“If people want to donate food, it can be non-perishables, canned goods, but also new, unused hygiene products, travel-sized items, and we’ll put it where the food is and people who come in can just take what they need,” Kennedy explains.
If you would like to make a donation, we ask that you make your donation at our Cambridge branch where space is available, so please ask a member of staff.
Library officials also say many more free resources will be available, including COVID-19 testing, gun locks and, of course, free books.
