The final match of Group C of the 2024 European Football Championship (EURO 2024) hosted by Germany took place. The match between Denmark and Serbia ended in a 0-0 draw.
Only England won one game in the group, while Denmark finished in second place with a draw. Denmark, who had the same number of points and goal difference as Slovenia, also drew in their match against their opponent. As both teams had the same number of goals scored and conceded, Denmark received fewer cards than Slovenia and therefore finished second in the group with three points. Slovenia maintained third place with the same number of points.
Denmark faced hosts Germany in the round of 16.
England rose to the top of the group with five points, while Serbia failed to escape bottom of the group with two points and said goodbye to the tournament.
Key moments of the match
In the 16th minute, Joachim Mähle crossed from the left wing into the penalty area, the ball went wide, but Alexander Baer headed it into the back post.
In the 21st minute, Christian Eriksen fired a powerful pass from inside the penalty area, but goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic was able to divert the ball with his fingertips from the left corner at the last moment and send it into a corner.
In the 22nd minute, after some confusion following a corner kick from the left, Christian Eriksen shot from a tight angle on the left side of the penalty area, but it was deflected by Ivan Ilić. Christian Eriksen sent the ball into the penalty area from the left wing of Saraki, but goalkeeper Predrag Rajković diverted it for a corner.
In the 23rd minute, Christian Eriksen received a corner kick from the right wing and, seeing an open front post, aimed directly at the goal, but the ball went over the line. However, the referee for the match, François Letexier, stated that the ball had come from outside after being warned by the linesman, and the goal was disallowed.
32nd minute: After receiving a corner kick from the right side, Rasmus Hojlund shot diagonally to the right and in front of the goal, but it was caught by goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic.
In the 60th minute, Andreas Christensen’s shot from outside the penalty area went over the goal in a different way.
In the 62nd minute, Morten Hjulmand took a shot from outside the penalty area and the ball went over the goal.
In the 64th minute, Christian Eriksen received a corner kick from the right side and crossed into the penalty area, where Jannik Vestergaardin headed the ball, but it was saved by goalkeeper Predrag Rajkovic.
In the 81st minute, Serbia came close to scoring through Aleksandar Mitrovic. Joachim Mähle gave the ball to Dusan Vlahovic on the left side of the penalty area, who passed it around from the left side, and Aleksandar Mitrovic’s diagonal kick just missed the goal.
