Deniz Yucel to Ozkan: We will evaluate this issue in the party committee.
“We have unfortunately witnessed how Mayor Tancu Ozkan of Bolu used hurtful and offensive language on social media against former chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, going beyond the limits of criticism.
The Republican People’s Party is the political party of people who are committed to the values of the Republic, the principles of Atatürk and the revolution, and who love the country and the nation. Republican members of parliament are not loyal to any individual, but primarily to the Constitution, the country, and the ideas and values that the party defends.
You are free to express any opinion within the bounds of criticism and respect. However, we would never approve of sharing any post about the former CHP Chairman in a way that goes beyond the bounds of criticism, regardless of who he is, his job or his position.
Kılıçdaroğlu denied making any statements that had provoked a public reaction. Nevertheless, he did not make any statements in good faith that were intended to incite the issue. “We will evaluate this issue in a competent committee of our party,” he said.

Bolu Mayor Tanju Ozkan said of Kılıçdaroğlu: “This time last year, I was walking to Ankara with the name ‘CHANGE!’ Everyone was almost silent! The person for whom I gave up his seat at the end of the march is showing his love for the parliament and that seat with his actions now. He had 50 loyal parliamentarians. Are you a god or a cult leader? What do you mean, loyal lieutenant?” He used the following expression:
The seventh head of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, responded to CHP’s Bolu Mayor Tancı Özkan. Kılıçdaroğlu posted on a social media platform.
“Look what they said despite a single word I did not say and my denial of the false news that came out. Your actions have no place within the morality or culture of our party. Republican lawmakers owe allegiance only to the Constitution and country.
You made an insulting remark, and I kept quiet. You threw away the chair that represented the office of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, and I kept quiet. But they say that pushing a cocky person to the limit is like trying to dress 40 orphans… You are like a loose cannon. You have been thrown off balance.
You are putting the party in difficulty with these remarks… Nobody is saying this, let me say it.
Come to your senses… Tanju, how much resentment you have in you… Live and fear the resentment! “Are you God?” What does that mean? I seek refuge in Allah. “Are you a cult leader?” What does that mean? I have spent my whole life fighting sectarianism. Criticism is like bread and water to our party, it is in my head. But neither I nor the Republican People’s Party will tolerate disrespect, rudeness and impudence…
If that day comes, I ask that you not attend my funeral…it would be a shame for you after all the effort I put in for you…”
