Crime leader Bariş Boyun investigation: number of detainees rises to 21
According to a written statement released yesterday by the Italian Police (Polizia di Stato), 19 people were detained in an operation carried out in Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Turkey, following a preventive detention decision issued by the Preliminary Investigative Judge of the Court of Milan, in cooperation with Italy, Turkey and the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).
Providing information about the operation yesterday, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said in a statement on his social media account that “during the operation, 19 suspects who are members of organized crime groups, including the mastermind Barış Boyun, were arrested. On the 21st, the fugitive organized crime group Barış Boyun was raided in Istanbul, Izmir and Tekirdag, and “317 people were arrested in 26 separate operations carried out in Sakarya and Kütahya, of which 175 were arrested and judicial prosecution orders were issued for 100 of them.”
A member of the Bariš Boyun gang involved in the shooting death of Serbian gang leader Jovan Vukotic in Istanbul has been arrested while fleeing on foot to Georgia.
