The new McDonald’s McFlurry launching next week is inspired by someone you know: your grandmother.
The McFlurry is Golden Arches’ famous sweet drink and has been around for quite some time, but this is the first time it’s been inspired by our grandparents.
When the McFlurry was first released to the public in 1997, its flavors included Oreo, Heath, Nestle Crunch, M&M’s, and Butterfinger. Since then, other flavors have appeared from time to time.
Here’s what you need to know about the new flavor.
What is Grandma McFlurry?
McDonald’s says the new Grandma McFlurry tastes like hard candy and syrup. It’s supposed to taste like the wrapped hard candy your grandmother always gave you when you were little.
McDonald’s said in a release that the new drink features “delicious syrup and chopped crunchy candy (like your grandma’s favorite treats hidden in her purse), all of which are paired with our creamy vanilla soft serve.” It’s blended into cream.”
Why did McDonald’s develop a new snack?
The restaurant chain said the purpose of the new McFlurry is to “celebrate and recreate memories with Grandma.” The famous chain restaurant announced that its new McFlurry was actually created by a grandmother.
“Grandmas have always held a special place in our hearts, and now they’re having a big moment influencing culture. In fashion, home decor, and now the latest in McFlurry… It’s also fueling food trends,” said Tariq Hassan, chief marketing and customer experience officer. McDonald’s, this week’s release said. “Grandma McFlurry tastes like a trip down memory lane, and we’re thrilled to be able to offer that experience to our fans while paying homage to the grandmas in our lives.”
When will the new Grandma McFlurry be released?
McDonald’s said in a release that the new drink will be available starting Tuesday, May 21, and will only be available for a “limited time.”
