Cincinnati Reds shortstop Ellie de la Cruz will be playing in next week’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas, but he’s had a stellar baseball career.
One of the most exciting players in the entire league, De La Cruz has done some extremely rare things in league and team history.
First, Sarah Langs of MLB.com said on social media:
Teams with the fewest games with 15+ home runs, 15+ doubles, and 45+ stolen bases in a season:
1986 Rickey Henderson: 76
1985 Rickey Henderson: 84
1990 Rickey Henderson: 86
2024 Ellie de la Cruz: 91

Considering Henderson is a Hall of Famer and the all-time leading stolen base leader, the 22-year-old is rubbing shoulders with some elite players. De la Cruz is batting .251 with 15 home runs, 40 RBI and 45 stolen bases. He also worked on his discipline at the plate in the first half of the season, posting a .344 on-base percentage.
Additionally, here’s some info from @StatsCentre on the Reds’ record:
