Following the big educational rally held last week, the Republican People’s Party (CHP) held a “big retirement rally” this week on May 26th in Ankara Tandogan Square.
CHP leader Ozgür Ozer met with the retirees at Ankara’s Tandogan Square.
Tan Duan Square is full
Retirees from around the country filled the square from early in the morning, shouting slogans to express their demands.
In addition to CHP leader Özgür Özer, members of DİSK Emekli Sen, the All Pensioners’ Union, the Independent Pensioners’ Union, the Turkish Association of Retired Non-Commissioned Officers and a number of non-governmental organizations took part in the rally.
In the square, participants were holding banners with messages such as “It’s hard for retirees to make a living, Özgür Özer rush election”, “Dignified life, fair distribution”, “For a humane and equal life”, “There’s a fire in the kitchen, the knife is at the bone”, “We will leave an honorable future for our grandchildren, what about you?” and “We will not pay the price of the crisis”, as well as banners that read “We will not pay the price of the crisis”. Crisis”.
The rally began at 2 p.m. with a speech by CHP Deputy Chairman Gamze Tasier.
CHP’s Tashiel: This government is putting a burden on retirees’ backs
“This government is not the burden of a retiree government, it is the burden of retirees, and we, the CHP, will be with you until the end. Today, at the call of our leader, Ozgür Ozer, we are united for great change, which is to extol light against darkness, prosperity against poverty, and hope against despair,” Tassier said.
Disk’s outgoing chairman Jaudsen: Our anger is growing
DİSK Emekli-SEN Chairman Cengiz Yavuz then took the stage and said:
“We will continue to fight for the right to retirement for ourselves, our children and our grandchildren. Today there are tens of thousands of us here, tomorrow there will be millions. Our fridges are empty, our shopping bags are empty, there is only half-dried bread on the table. But our anger is growing and the voices of pensioners’ resistance are getting louder.”
United Pensioners Union Chairman Shengul Called Erdogan
Mahmud Şengül, chairman of the United Pensioners’ Union, also issued the following statement:
“If you cannot govern immediately, resign. As retirees, we have a demand. The President says that whatever we are giving to retirees is a bottomless pit. We also say that the well is not bottomless, you have dug a tunnel under it. You have drilled the well and connected it to 3-5 pro-government contractors, which is why our retirees are starving and living in misery.”
Çalışkan, President of the National Pensioners Association: We want our rights
“Retirement is not a blessing, it is a right. We have earned this retirement with the sweat of our brows!” said Satürmüş Çalüşkan, president of the All Retirees Association.
“We want rights. We want equal pensions based on service and contributions. We want a pension we can live on. We don’t want a lot,” Çalışkan said.
Retired Ainur Teke: We live not to die
“I can’t remember how many times I went back and forth to get social assistance,” said Ainur Teke, a 61-year-old retired citizen. “Look at the conditions we live in. Has the electricity or water ever been cut off? Do the people who govern us have a clear conscience? “We live not to die,” he said.
He was in the special room: the pensions announced were a sign of future poverty
Following the trade union representatives, CHP Chairman Ozgür Ozer began his speech.
“The announced pensions were a harbinger of future poverty. We will be the voice for retirees in Turkey’s 81 provinces,” Ezer said.
The main points of the CHP leader’s remarks are as follows:
* We spoke, we explained, and you came. You dealt with your problems. If you throw a needle in Ankara today and it doesn’t fall to the ground, you are the owner of that needle. This is the saddest song that the world’s largest globe has ever sung. We said that if you don’t solve the problem of retirees, the squares and streets are ours. Either they hear this voice, or I will not stop and I will tear your rights apart. Shame on those who denied Hasan the life that Hans lived.
“You have been ordered to take 5.5 quarter gold every month and run away.”
* Retirees say they are hungry, they go to their dormitories and take their holidays. When this government came to power, the minimum pension was 8/4 of a gold. Now 10,000 liras does not buy 2.5 gold. There is a plan to take 5.5 quarters of gold every month and run away. If they do not listen to you, you will hold them accountable at the first voting booth.
*There are people who cannot retire other than those who have retired. They are victims of internships and practical training. Their children worked as interns, their insurance started, and they were paid. However, the victims said, “It doesn’t start from that day,” and did not retire. A non-commissioned officer cannot retire. If he retires, his salary will be halved. When he becomes an adult, he will be dragged into a miserable situation. We defend the individual rights of people who work at all levels.
“The money paid to 48 million people is less than the interest paid.”
※It is said that OYAK managed a portfolio equivalent to TÜİK inflation. This is not called fraud, it is called theft. Shame on you. Economics is about prioritizing. Your economic choices will determine which government you will have. The amount paid to a total of 48 million people is much less than the amount paid as interest on the budget.
Simshek called me: Let’s take the Goryaban.
* We have a ghoul upon us. The ghoul is not the IMF. But the ghost of the IMF is haunting us. Mehmet Simşek, take this ghoul to the palace. Let him go to the window of the wealthy.
Phone call between President Erdogan and President Bahiceli: 15 articles mentioned
* I am calling Mr. Erdogan and Mr. Bahceli. We will do 15 things, 15 things, we will do them together. We will make this square smile. Are you in? We are starting…
Let’s make it a legal regulation that the minimum pension should not be lower than the minimum wage in any era. Let’s raise the insurance premium adjustment coefficient, monthly contribution rate, and pension floor fairly. Let’s enact an adaptation law and eliminate the distinction between before 2000, 2000 to 2008, and after 2008. Let’s eliminate the drug copayment, differential, and examination fee that are a serious burden for retirees. This retiree lost his leg from an orthotic to a prosthetic while working in this country. His prosthetic leg is in tatters and the amount given is one-thirtieth of what it should be. The best orthotics and prosthetics should be paid immediately to retirees, and retirees should be given the right to form a trade union. Retirement benefits should be raised to the minimum wage level. Holiday bonuses for those retiring from private funds of institutions such as agencies and banks, and those retiring from the self-finance of private banks should be equalized and drug copayments should be reduced. They should be paid promotion compensation. Retirees should be issued retirement cards. Electricity and natural gas rates should be reduced by 25 to 40 percent. We must solve the problems of people waiting for retirement, victims of internships and apprenticeships, and veterans. The transportation problems of people over 65 should be solved by the state through legislation at their own expense, without hurting retirees again, considering drivers and contractors. The cuts in SSI applications for retirees who have to work should be stopped. Retiree loans and credit card debt should be deleted once and for all, and spread out over 5 years with all interest removed, retirees should be saved from this hump. Tax fairness must be ensured, and indirect taxes should be phased out to zero.
CHP releases first election manifesto if it takes power
* I am announcing the first election pledges of the CHP government: legal regulation will be completed as soon as possible, pensions will be raised first to the minimum wage and then after two years to 1.5 times the minimum wage.
Ozgür Ozer then left the stage chanting “Power, power.”
Buses depart from 39 districts of Istanbul
“The Republican People’s Party will win pensioners’ rights!” Ezell said in a post on his social media account. He also included his own remarks.
CHP Istanbul provincial chairman Ozgür Celik said buses would be removed from 39 districts of Istanbul for the rallies.
Some roads have been closed
Ankara police said some roads would be closed due to the rally.
According to a statement from the Ankara Police Department, the section of Anit Street between Turgut Reis Street and Turgut Reis Street will be closed as necessary from 10 pm today due to the “Great Retirement Gathering” which will be held from 1 pm to 5 pm on Sunday, May 26. Anadolu Square and all of its sections have been closed to two-way traffic, as well as the variant leading from GMK Boulevard to Kazm Karabekir Street.
Retirement Employee Gathering Held in January
Ezer met with the retirees at a meeting held at the Republican People’s Party headquarters on January 19, where he listened to their issues.
After the meeting, Ezell, referring to the pay that retirees receive, said, “Retirees know how to get their rights. We will fight together until we get them.”
Ezeru said the salaries retirees were receiving were below the starvation standard and called for “improvement”, saying the minimum pension should not be lower than the minimum wage.
The CHP leader said: “Here we have pensioners with very different political views. They always want something else to talk about, because the main thing to talk about in this country is the high cost of living and inflation, and the people who are oppressed in this country in the first place are retirees. They declared this year the year of retirement and at the beginning of the year of retirement they announced figures that make a fool of retirees. “They say ‘year of retirement’ but they don’t do what is necessary, so at least today is retirees’ day, so we won’t talk about anything else, we will only talk about retirees.”
