The Chicago White Sox lost 4-3 in extra innings to the Texas Rangers on Monday night in Arlington. The humiliation dropped the White Sox to a league-worst 27-75 record this season. They have lost all four games since the All-Star break.
The Rangers improved to 48-52 this season and remain within striking distance of the AL West, 4.0 games behind the leaders.
The Rangers are trying to catch the Astros and Mariners in the division, while the White Sox are trying to avoid becoming the worst team in baseball. That’s not the case at the moment, but it puts them on par with some pretty disappointing teams in history.

It was a total failure for Chicago, who made the playoffs just three seasons ago (2021). After trading several talented players last year and during the most recent offseason, the White Sox are in the midst of a long rebuild.
The team is expected to trade more talent at the upcoming trade deadline, potentially including Luis Robert Jr., Garrett Crochet and Tommy Pham, with Erick Fedde also expected to be traded.
The White Sox and Rangers will face off again on Tuesday night, with first pitch scheduled for 8:05 pm ET.
