A passenger car with plate number 01 PF 509 driven by Mehmet Yaşar Kılınç (66), a truck with plate number 01 Y 2868 driven by HK and a truck with plate number 20 LJ 016 driven by Ü. Ç. collided at the Darboğaz location between Pozantı-Ulukışla on the Niğde D-750 highway.
Following the report, numerous Gendarmerie, AFAD, fire and medical teams were dispatched to the scene of the accident.
The driver, Mr. Kurunchi, his wife, Ms. Beshir (57), and their daughter, Ms. Ebru Kurunchi (29), lost their lives in the accident. Amen and Ekim Kurunchi, who were seriously injured, as well as a passenger in the same vehicle as the truck driver, were taken to hospital.
The bodies of those who lost their lives were taken to the morgue at Urkushula State Hospital.
Nijedeh Provincial Governor Kahit Çelik, along with Provincial Police Chief Adnan Özdemir, came to the scene of the accident and received information from Ulukşla District Governor Yunus Kose.
Speaking to reporters here, Governor Celik prayed for God’s mercy for those who lost their lives in the accident and a speedy recovery for the injured.
Celik said four people injured in the accident were taken to hospital, adding, “From the first moment of the accident, we immediately instructed the gendarmerie, police, health and AFAD teams. Two of the injured are in a serious condition and the other is in critical condition. The condition of the injured is good. Seriously injured patients can be referred to other hospitals,” he said.
Çelik said a car coming from the direction of Pozantı collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction, after which the truck crashed into the vehicle.
Çelik said the truck driver and his passenger were in good health, adding that the road that was closed after the accident had been reopened.
