BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — The nonprofit Central Oregon Locavore is looking for a student or intern to complete a “History of Agriculture” project in Central Oregon.
Locavore will use the information we collect for a variety of marketing purposes, including creating and delivering educational content, designing and promoting new innovations to solve farmer challenges, and applying for grants to garner further support for our mission.
Upon completion and review of the project, Locavore will issue a letter of recommendation and serve as an introduction to budding journalists, farmers, historians and others working on the agricultural history of the Central Oregon region.
What are you hoping to accomplish with this project?
-Pre-colonial agriculture
-Colonial agriculture
-What crops have been grown here historically and why?
– How have crop choices changed over time and why?
-Changes in water resource availability and classification of water rights
-Climate differences
-Changes and growth in the livestock industry
-Historic collaboration and innovation in Central Oregon agriculture
