GILLETTE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Agriculture’s Consumer and Health Services Division is conducting inspections of retail food establishments across Wyoming (in areas that do not have a local health department to inspect) to help keep Wyoming residents safe.
Campbell County facilities are inspected by the WDA at least once a year. All of these reports are publicly available and can be found on the WDA website. The reports include routine inspections only, not follow-up or other types of inspections.
According to the WDA, a facility can be in compliance with either a non-critical violation (not food related) or a critical violation (potentially causing foodborne illness) or non-compliance.
While it looks for deficiencies, the WDA explains that the organization’s “primary goal is to educate companies.”
The report is designed to help companies understand unsafe practices and how to correct them.
Any violation makes a business out of compliance. However, there are different levels of violation and being out of compliance does not necessarily indicate that a business is insecure.
Inspections are a “snapshot” in time, and violations are often corrected before inspectors leave the facility. Depending on the severity of the violation, businesses have 10 to 45 days to correct it.
Any significant violations or noteworthy remarks will be included in the summary memo below, but full reports for each restaurant can be found on the WDA website, where updates are posted.
