A three-storey apartment building at the intersection of Belediye and Gecit streets in Kartaltepe district collapsed for unknown reasons.

Following the report, numerous fire brigade, health brigade, police and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene.

One person came out on their own terms.
It was stated that after the building collapsed, an individual managed to free himself from the rubble and provided the team with information about those trapped inside.

Seven people were injured
Istanbul Governor Davut Gul inspected the scene and issued the following statement:
“The one-storey + three-storey building collapsed spontaneously. Seven people were injured, two of them seriously, and rescue operations are ongoing. Two more people are said to have been crushed under the collapsed building. No deaths have been detected.” “The building was built in 1988, but there is no information yet regarding the collapse.” No reason has been given and judicial and administrative procedures will continue.

Meanwhile, the collapsed building fell onto parked cars, and a public bus passing by was also damaged.

Statement from the Governor of Istanbul
The Istanbul Governor released the following statement regarding the collapsed building:
“At around 08:40, a three-storey building collapsed at the intersection of Belediye Street and Gecit Street in Kartaltepe district of Küçükçekmece district. Numerous AFAD, search and rescue and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.”
