Woman wakes up after unsolicited BBL surgery
Belfast fitness enthusiast Michelle Heath joined Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle on Tuesday’s This Morning to discuss her terrifying plastic surgery nightmare.
After losing 10 stone in her early 20s, Michelle traveled to Turkey to get rid of the loose skin on her legs and back.
The 24-year-old was diagnosed with cone breast syndrome and had previously undergone a breast lift and tummy tuck on the NHS.
She booked surgery abroad in August 2021, but the pain remained after the surgery.
She explained that she was told she would be in the hospital for two days after the surgery, but was asked to leave the hospital after one day.

Michelle waited for five hours at the hospital’s reception desk for transport, but couldn’t understand why she couldn’t sit down.
“I didn’t know they were BBLing me at this point,” she said, and Josie exclaimed, “You didn’t know!”
She continued, explaining the process to host Craig: “What is BBL? [surgeon] It involves harvesting fat from one part of the body and injecting it into the buttocks, which is the most dangerous type of cosmetic surgery because it can go directly into the veins and cause an embolism in the heart. ”
“I didn’t ask. [the BBL], I didn’t know it happened to me until the third day. I didn’t understand why I couldn’t sit down,” she explained.
Michelle recalled trying to contact medical professionals at the clinic she went to for help when she was in excruciating pain.

When she returned to her home in Belfast, a family friend noticed a smell of “rotten flesh” coming from Michelle and advised her to go to A&E immediately.
“I’m glad I woke up because my kidneys were healthy,” Michelle joked.
Michelle was treated for an infection, but suffered another setback when the wound in her back tore open.
She underwent further surgery to correct the infection and then received a skin graft.
The fitness fanatic told Josie and Craig that she shared her story to help others considering plastic surgery, stressing the importance of receiving adequate aftercare.
