BREAKING! There’s a new development in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan investigation.
The Interior Ministry announced that the number two defendant in the investigation, Serdar Serçelik, was caught trying to enter the Roshke border gate with a fake Georgian passport issued in the name of Simeon Nikos.
Extradition proceedings have begun for Sercelik, who is wanted on charges of being part of an organisation established with the intent to commit a crime, intentional homicide, concealment of a crime and red notice.
Myth: It was thought to be in Paris, but it turned out to be in Montenegro.
A statement about Sercelik’s detention in Hungary was also issued by the National Intelligence Agency (MİT).
In a statement, the MİT said: “The MİT has determined that Mr. Serdar Serçelik, who is believed to be in the French capital Paris, is in Montenegro. Mr. Serdar Serçelik’s location was immediately shared with the Ministry of Justice. At the same time, a ‘Red Notice and Search Warrant’ was issued for Serdar Serçelik by Interpol. Upon learning that a Red Notice and search warrant had been issued against him, Serdar Serçelik, who is still at large, fled overland from Montenegro to Hungary via Serbia. He was arrested at the Hungarian border while in possession of a fake Georgian passport. “The Ministry of Justice has initiated judicial procedures for his extradition.”
He escaped with electronic handcuffs on his wrists.
Sercelik was wearing an electronic bracelet on his wrist but fled the country.
In their report, inspectors appointed by the Interior Ministry determined that Sercelik was reported at the border gate nine days after he fled the country.
No investigation was initiated in this regard and it was determined that there was abuse of power in the case.
#2 in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan survey
On September 8, 2023, the Ankara Police Organized Crime Unit arrested Ayhan Bora Kaplan, a suspected criminal organization leader, at Esenboga Airport as he was attempting to flee overseas.
While the operation was ongoing, allegations of a conspiracy against the government raised by secret witness Serdar Serçelik were on Turkey’s agenda.
Serdar Sercelik, the alleged number two in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan crime syndicate, was made a secret witness under the code name M7 and released a 19-page statement. Sercelik’s flight abroad while under house arrest and the process of making him a secret witness in the case have been controversial.
Sercelik said he was a secret witness in a YouTube broadcast he took part in after traveling abroad, and claimed his statements were manipulated by police.
Sercelik claimed he was forced by police to testify against former and current ministers and politicians, while also alleging a conspiracy against the AK Party and the MHP.
