President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Uzbekistan’s President Shavket Mirziyoyev at the agreement signing ceremony and joint press conference.
Target: $5 billion trade
Below are the key points of President Erdogan’s speech:
Today, the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Meeting was successfully held. We discussed steps to deepen our partnership. We discussed concrete steps we can take. We also signed a number of agreements. These agreements pave the way for diversifying our cooperation. We are pleased with the increase in Turkish investments in Uzbekistan. We believe that the $5 billion trade volume target can be achieved as soon as possible.
Our relations with Uzbekistan are improving day by day. We assessed regional and national issues in the difficult times the world is experiencing today. Israel’s inhumane attacks were one of the main topics of our meeting.
Massacre in Gaza
“We are doing all we can to end the war and deliver humanitarian aid to our brothers in Gaza. Countries that provide Israel with ammunition and arms support should also stop being complicit in this crime.
The repression in Gaza must stop. They must take responsibility and ensure that a ceasefire is achieved as soon as possible. Just as we are with them, our Uzbek brothers are with us in these difficult times. We recall with gratitude the solidarity shown by Uzbekistan after the February 6 earthquake. Uzbekistan sent search and rescue teams and nearly 700 tons of aid.
My dear brother, right from the moment he took office, showed himself to be a close friend of the people he appointed and of Turkey, and today we are awarding him the State Order of Merit.
