According to information provided by diplomatic sources, notable elements of the Final Declaration include:
* NATO’s 2025 summit will be held in The Hague, the capital of the Netherlands. The next summit will be held in Turkey.
* The Document on NATO’s Contributions and Future Strategy to the Fight against Terrorism, one of Turkey’s priorities, was updated. In addition, the Leaders’ Declaration pointed out the fight against terrorism as the second biggest threat facing NATO. Thus, a more comfortable working environment for the appointed counterterrorism coordinator has been created.
*The Vilnius summit confirmed the decision that allies should not impose sanctions on each other, which is also one of Turkey’s priorities.
Turkiye meets the specified level
* In the context of Turkey’s preferred ballistic missile defence, the threat was stated to be growing and the commitment to fully protect all NATO allies was re-accepted.
* In the context of NATO-EU relations, in Turkey’s preferred spelling, it was decided that cooperation between the two organizations would be carried out on the basis of acquisitions dating back to ancient times.
* It was decided that joint projects that some countries develop among themselves or outside NATO should be carried out in accordance with NATO’s defense planning process, a decision in line with Turkey’s view that NATO is the only security umbrella.
*Noted that Turkiye meets the NATO-set standards for defense spending (2% of Turkey’s GDP). *As a result of Turkey’s implementation of the Montreux Convention and diplomatic efforts, it was decided that non-monetary contributions to Ukraine will also be recognized by NATO.
*A decision was made to prepare a package of educational assistance and long-term security assistance to Ukraine.
* In accordance with the decision taken, a NATO-Ukraine Joint Analytical Training and Education Center will be established and Allied support will be coordinated.
