A Ministry of Defence statement on the air operation said:
By neutralizing the PKK/KCK and other terrorist elements. To eliminate terrorist attacks against the people and security forces in northern Iraq and ensure border security. Based on our country’s right of self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, an air operation was carried out on 26 July 2024 against terrorist targets in the Gala, Qandil and Assos regions of northern Iraq. Caves, bunkers, shelters, warehouses and facilities used by terrorist organizations believed to contain responsible terrorists were destroyed.
“In this operation, we neutralized many terrorists using the maximum of our domestic and domestic ammunition. The Turkish Armed Forces, born from the heart of our noble nation, will continue to fight terrorism for the survival and security of our country and its people, as before, with determination and resolve, until the last terrorist is neutralized,” he said.
During this operation; all precautions are taken to prevent harm to innocent people, friendly population, historical and cultural assets and the environment.
