In a statement made by Fenerbahce to KAP, the statement said: “Negotiations have begun with Jose Mario dos Santos Mourinho Felix for the post of technical director.”
Yesterday we worked specifically with Ismail Kartal
Fenerbahce announced yesterday that they had parted ways with Ismail Kartal after a record-filled season ended without a trophy.
Emotional language was also used in the words of thanks from the yellow and navy club, who shared a farewell video to Kartal.
“Your unique struggle with Fenerbahçe, whose colours and history you belong to, whose jersey you wear with pride and represent with honour, was the belief that it was a dream for both you and the millions of yellow-navy lovers who believe in it. You never gave up on believing in this club and the millions of Fenerbahçe fans never gave up on standing by your side.”
Thank you for your stance, values, loyalty, respect and support for Fenerbahçe. Thank you for your efforts. You left a beautiful mark and you will always be well remembered… Good luck. This community will not forget those who violate our rights, the fight against them will not end! With infinite conviction we will shout once again the words you said on the first day: Fenerbahçe is ours, Fenerbahçe is our everything…
Who is Jose Mourinho?
José Mourinho, whose real name is José Mário dos Santos Mourinho Félix, is a football coach and former football player born on 26 January 1963 in Setúbal, Portugal. Mourinho is known in the football world as “The Special One” and has achieved much success throughout his career.
A regular midfielder in the Portuguese league, Mourinho ended his playing career at the age of 24, first as Sir Bobby Robson’s interpreter at Sporting and Porto, before serving as assistant coach at Barcelona under Robson and his successor Louis van Gaal.
After brief stints at Benfica and União de Leiria, Mourinho returned to Porto as manager in 2002, leading the team to win the Primeira Liga twice, the Taça de Portugal, the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Champions League, as well as Porto’s first European cup title since 1987.
Following these successes, he was appointed coach of Premier League team Chelsea. He won two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and two League Cups in his three seasons with the club. He resigned in 2007 due to differences of opinion with club owner Roman Abramovich.
Mourinho moved to Italian club Inter Milan in 2008 and won the Serie A title twice, before becoming the first Italian club to win the European treble of Serie A, Coppa Italia and UEFA Champions League in 2010, making him one of only five managers to win the European Cup with two clubs and winning his first FIFA World Coach of the Year award that same year.
Mourinho then moved to Spain with Real Madrid, where he led them to La Liga titles with a record number of points in the 2011–12 season, becoming just the fifth manager to win league titles in four different countries, as well as winning the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa de España.
Mourinho left Real Madrid in 2013 to return to Chelsea, where he again won the league title and League Cup, but was sacked in 2015 due to poor results. He remained in England to manage Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, but his tenures at both clubs were relatively short and ended disastrously. Nevertheless, Mourinho won the UEFA Europa League, League Cup and FA Community Shield in his first season with Manchester United and led Tottenham to the League Cup final, but was sacked less than a week before the final.
He was quickly scouted by Roma and led them to victory in the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League, making him the first manager to win four major European competitions with four clubs and just the third manager to win all three major UEFA club competitions, before parting ways with Roma midway through this season.
He was named Portuguese Manager of the Century by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) in 2015 and became the first manager to spend more than €1 billion on transfers.
He has been compared to Argentine manager Helenio Herrera by fans and critics alike due to his tactical nous, his charismatic and controversial personality and his reputation for prioritizing results over glamorous football.
