BELVIDERE, Ill. (WTVO) – From pizza to pork chops, country music to monster trucks.
With less than a month to go, Boone County Fair organizers say there’s something for everyone at the six-day event.
“They’ll be crushing cars,” Tom Ratcliffe, the fair’s advertising director, said of the monster truck show, which will be held in the grandstands on Wednesday, Aug. 7. “There will be cars that will be crushed on the track. There will also be jumps.”
The DCT Powersports Monster Truck Show is new for 2024, featuring popular Maximums, Dirt Crew, Dirt Crew Dozer and Block Head.
Other grandstand events include the Queen and Little Miss contests, professional bull riding and two demolition derby shows.
Country music artist Scott McCreery will headline the Grandstand Stage on Saturday, August 10. Graylan James will open for him.
“They’re going to put on a great show,” Ratcliffe said. “He’s got a new album out, Rise and Fall, which is doing really well. It’s getting a lot of attention from critics.”
Longtime popular food vendors like Cosmopolitan Club Sweet Corn Boone County Fire District 2, which has been selling doughnuts at the fair since 1978, will return along with countless other vendors, Tom Ratcliffe said.
“We’ve got barbecue, Japanese food, giant turkey legs and more,” he said. “You can eat that for six days.”
The fair will run from August 6th to 11th.
