The Toronto Blue Jays split a win-loss doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday, losing Game 1 11-5 but winning Game 2 8-4.
Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a strong performance in Game 1, going 3-for-5 with one home run and two RBIs, and in Game 2 he had an overall great performance, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBIs and two runs.
According to MLB.com’s Sarah Langs, the Game 1 home run symbolized personal history for Guerrero Jr. in more ways than one.
Vlad!
The pitch was 3.83 feet off the ground, the highest he has ever thrown for a home run in his career.
That’s the seventh-highest mark in Blue Jays history (since 2015), according to Statcast.

Guerrero Jr. reached the 150-home run milestone in a way that would have made his Hall of Fame father proud, as Vladimir Sr. was known as an incredible bad-ball hitter.
Vladimir Jr. has been on a roll recently, hitting .577 in his last seven games, .439 in his last 15 games and .392 in his last 30 games. And he’s done all this amid trade rumors, but reports say he wants to stay in Toronto and is willing to sign a contract extension to do so.
This year, he batted .311 with 21 home runs and 69 RBI. His career batting average is .284 with 151 home runs, making him one of the best hitters in the American League.
The Blue Jays and Orioles will face off again on Tuesday at 6:35 pm ET.
