The friendly match between Besiktas and Dinamo Zagreb, scheduled for 6.30pm, was cancelled due to heavy rain.
Rain and heavy hail started falling just before the Croatian team’s match against the black and white teams at the Lendava Stadium, so it was decided that the match would not go ahead.
It was noted that rainwater had accumulated on the ground, making dribbling difficult.
After review by both teams, the match was called off.
After leaving the stadium, Besiktas coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst decided to hold a training match at the hotel where the team was staying.
“A friendly match against GNK Dinamo Zagreb was scheduled but was cancelled by the referee due to heavy rain and hail,” Besiktas said in a statement.
