Having kicked off their season preparations in Istanbul, Besiktas have now arrived in Austria for their second phase camp in Maribor, Slovenia. Here are the details…
The Besiktas delegation, which was welcomed by black and white fans at Graz airport, included, in addition to the footballers, vice-president Mete Vardar, board member Feyyaz Uçal and the football team’s general coordinator Samet Aybaba.

Camp staff: 32 people
Mette Vardar, vice president of the Black-White Club, said they have put together a 32-person camp team.
In a statement to reporters at Graz airport, coach Mete Vardar said he wanted Besiktas to go into the season “more prepared”. “29 people will come, Whip will come and join us and we will be 30 people. Then, when Semih takes over, I want Besiktas to be more prepared this year and start well in the first 10 days in Istanbul,” he said.
Vardar said Besiktas were very well prepared for the season. “We have the Super Cup matches on August 3 and then the league starts on August 7, 8 and 9 and I see Besiktas being very prepared by then. Under the leadership of president and vice-president Hussein Bey, important work on the relocation is underway,” he said.
Vardar said that the federation officials are positive about the Super Cup being held at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium, and that “80 percent of the matches will be played at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium.”
Daniel Amartey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Javi Montero, Ante Rebic and Mert Gunok, who is on holiday, were not included in Besiktas’ camp squad.
Semih Kurtisov, the Euro 2024 national team player, will join the training camp on 15 July.
