The challenge of sustainably feeding a global population that is set to reach 10 billion by 2050 is driving the need for innovative food technologies and breakthrough ways to efficiently develop and produce healthy, sustainable food in a highly regulated industry.
Bel Group will deploy Dassault Systèmes’ “Perfect Production” industry solution experience, based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, to improve the efficiency and sustainability of manufacturing operations in 11 plants around the world.1 Key elements of this transformation are manufacturing operations management (MOM), food and materials science, AI, and product lifecycle management (PLM).
With MOM, Bel Group will empower its workforce through digital transformation, make production more efficient and meet market demand, while optimizing inventory levels and raw material consumption. Bel Group will be able to produce more sustainably, with consistent quality, everywhere.
Leveraging AI, Bel Group can analyze millions of data points and use machine learning to enhance its products and packaging to continuously adapt to consumer needs with sustainable development and breakthrough innovation, while providing Dassault Systèmes with comprehensive insights into the food industry, which will shorten time to market, optimize formulations, reduce industrial testing, accelerate product development and improve product performance.
With PLM, a single collaborative environment connects people, processes and data, giving all stakeholders access to the right information at the right time, facilitating cross-company collaboration and decision-making, simplifying business operations from product ideation to market release.
“The transition of food towards a more sustainable model requires disruptive players and actions over the next decade. Through this unique, long-term partnership, we want to pioneer new solutions and accelerate the transformation. The joint capabilities of two groups that share the same vision will enable our teams to move into ‘Augmented Research and Development’ through AI, reimagining our manufacturing and product management processes for the future of food,” said Cécile Bériot, CEO of Bell Group.
“Cécile Berio and I share the same vision: the future of health depends on the future of nutrition,” said Bernard Charlès, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dassault Systèmes. “Our partnership with Bell Group will revolutionize a vital food industry. Together we can further our mission to offer healthier, more inventive food, produced more sustainably. Thanks to modeling, simulation, data science and generative AI, we can imagine and create new connections and important economic levers between health, prevention and affordable and sustainable nutrition. Our scientific and technological approach allows the industry to address the biggest challenges currently facing consumers, patients and citizens. We have shown that the virtual world opens new horizons in therapeutics development. Now we can apply this approach to Bell Group’s business and bring about a true disruptive change that will make the company a benchmark for food tech companies.”
